Because salt is dense, logistics planning can reach weight limits before volume limits. Pallet design affects warehouse handling, container utilization, cargo stability and total freight cost.

Separate net, gross and pallet weight

Commercial documents should distinguish net product weight from gross weight including bags, pallets and protective materials. Transport limits are evaluated on gross weight.

Choose pallet type for the destination

Pallet dimensions and type may depend on the buyer’s racking, forklifts, local practices and any applicable wood-packaging requirements. One pallet standard does not suit every market.

Bag pattern and load stability

Layer count, bag shape, slip risk, stretch/shrink wrapping and edge protection can influence transport stability, especially on long road and sea routes.

Palletized or floor-loaded?

Floor loading can increase net cargo capacity, while pallets can simplify unloading and warehouse handling. Compare total operational cost rather than only tonnes per container.

20ft vs 40ft

For dense cargo, payload limits can be as important as internal volume. Final loading should be confirmed against package dimensions, pallet use, carrier, port and road limits.
