How to Compare Bulk Salt Quotations: Buyer Evaluation Matrix

Comparing bulk salt quotations only by price per tonne can lead to poor purchasing decisions. Specification, packaging, Incoterm, freight, documentation and payment terms should be normalized first.
Check technical equivalence first
The same product name can hide different granulation, moisture or quality requirements. Non-equivalent offers should not be treated as direct price alternatives.
Normalize the delivery basis
EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF include different cost components. Convert offers to a common delivery basis where practical.
Make packaging cost visible
Pallets, bags, private label, cases and loading configuration affect total cost.
Score payment and lead-time risk
A lower price may come with longer lead time or less favourable payment terms.
