Industrial salt should be purchased against the requirements of the actual process. Food-oriented specifications and industrial process specifications are not necessarily the same, so buyers should define the parameters that affect process performance.

Document the process requirement

Dissolving, chemical processing, water treatment, surface treatment and other industrial uses can have different critical parameters. Suppliers should quote against the written requirement.

Granulation and flow

Where feeders, silos, screws or dissolving tanks are used, particle size and flow behavior may become operationally important.

Composition and impurity criteria

NaCl, moisture, insoluble matter or other process-critical parameters should be defined with acceptance ranges. Focus on parameters relevant to the process rather than collecting unnecessary test lists.

Packaging and site logistics

25kg bags, big bags or other industrial formats should fit forklift, warehouse, dosing and site-safety operations.

Continuity of supply
