Quality control for bulk salt does not end with pre-order samples. When a commercial shipment arrives, incoming inspection should confirm that purchasing requirements were met.

Match the PO and shipping documents

Verify product, quantity, packaging, lot and delivery information against the purchase order.

Record packaging damage

Torn, wet, dirty or opened packages should be documented during unloading.

Perform visual and physical checks

Review color, foreign material, caking and apparent particle size.

Sample according to a defined plan

If acceptance testing is required, the sampling method should be specified in advance.

Verify COA and lot identity

Confirm that analytical or batch documents relate to the delivered lot.

Define non-conformance actions

Acceptance, conditional acceptance, quarantine or rejection criteria should be defined.
