In B2B sourcing, asking only whether “an analysis exists” is not enough. A COA, product specification and independent laboratory report can serve different purposes and should clearly identify the product, sample or batch they represent.

What is a product specification?

It defines target properties and acceptance ranges such as granulation, composition, physical characteristics and other commercial quality criteria.

What does a COA show?

A Certificate of Analysis may report selected test results for a specific production lot. It should identify the lot and the tests performed.

Independent laboratory report

A third-party report is an analytical result for a particular sample. Sampling, laboratory competence for the relevant scope and reporting units should be considered.

Batch traceability

Connecting package lot identification with shipping documents and analytical records improves quality management and investigation capability.
