Lot Traceability and Recall Readiness in Bulk Salt Supply

Traceability is not only a record for audits; it is the operating system used to identify which production batch reached which customer when a quality issue appears. In bulk salt supply, lot identity should survive from production through palletizing and dispatch.
What should a lot code represent?
The exact structure varies by company, but the code should allow production, packing, analytical and shipment records to be linked to the same batch.
Why do pallet and carton labels matter?
If a container includes more than one lot, pallet- or carton-level identification helps separate batches during receiving and investigation.
Link the COA to the lot
A laboratory or COA document should identify the lot or sample it represents whenever possible. This helps the buyer connect analytical data to the actual shipment.
Customer shipment records complete the chain
Records should identify which lot was shipped under which invoice, container or customer order. Without that link, internal traceability does not reach the commercial level.
How to test recall readiness
A mock traceability exercise can be run before any real recall: select a lot and measure how quickly it can be traced from production to customers and back.
